Steve Fitzmaurice, MIP, CI, CT, NIC:A, NAD V, EIPA: 4.5, owner of FITS, LLC holds a Master of Interpreting Pedagogy degree from Northeastern University and has been a professional interpreter for nearly 20 years.

Steve holds several national certifications:

  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)

  • National Interpreter Certificate: Advanced(NIC:A)

  • Certificate of Interpretation (CI)

  • Certificate of Transliteration (CT)

  • National Association of the Deaf (NAD)

  • Master Interpreter Certificate (NAD V)

  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment

  • 4.5 (EIPA 4.5)

At present, FITS, LLC provides educational interpreting consulting services for the South Carolina Department of Education.

Steve has worked extensively as an interpreter, interpreter educator, trainer, mentor and diagnostician. Most recently, Steve created and directed the South Carolina Interpreter Recruitment & Training (SCIRT) Project for nearly six years.
